Welcome to Love Notes in Between
My heart still lifts with anticipation when I walk out to the mailbox, a relic from my formative years when my grandmother used to send “love in your mailbox.” That love took the shape of a simple note, sometimes a pretty card, occasionally stickers or a coloring book. We lived on opposite coasts, and her notes kept us connected until we saw each other in person again, which was usually once or twice a year. I looked forward to these love notes in between.
After I was widowed, one of my closest-but-farthest-away friends sent me frequent love notes via email. They were simple and sweet – or sassy and sarcastic – and always honest. Ultimately a reminder that I was not alone in this beautiful and terrifying world. Not alone in my grief. Not alone in parenting. Not alone in ankle-twisting missteps and major social gaffes. Not alone in celebrating new chapters, promotions and springtime. Not alone in taking chocolate seriously and cursing lightly.
Love Notes in Between is my way of sending love to your inbox. I’ll let you know when I’ve posted a new blog or published an essay and when (fingers crossed) there’s an update on the book! So grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine and trust that you’re not alone in this crazy and gorgeous place. I’m glad you’re here.
Love & Light,
Charlotte
